I've just been reading this month's RHS magazine and it says there will be a new programme called 'Grow your own Veg' presented by Carol Klein on BBC2 starting on 5th January. It runs for six weeks and is in the Gardeners World slot.
I think it may be aimed at first time growers, but if it's successful there may be more programmes on growing vegetables especially as veg seeds have this year outsold flower seeds for the first time in ages. Let's hope so...
Now I just wonder - might they choose one of our members as an example??
Ooh, would be perfect for me. I'll keep an eye out.
Oh that sounds good, something of interest in the dark months and I like Carol Klein.
I've set a reminder in my calender section on my mobile phone ;)

Hope so Tim I think some of us on here know a sight more about gardening that some of these so called experts do, plus the fact we do not mind getting our hands dirty.
Ooooh, that sounds good, just what we'll be needing when we take on our plot in Jan. Now, if someone could just remind me to watch it the day before..... lol

Great idea - Ive just set one on mine too, and one for the day before "remind kitten on a4a about TV programme!!"
;D
It's all true - the programme starts on Friday Jan 5th at 8.30pm and runs until Feb 9th. (BBC2)
And I'm surprised that the one a4a member who has been filmed for the series hasn't said so! And you know who you are and yes, you can say!
Look out for Grow Your Own Veg with Carol Klein and the day after the series finishes all RHS gardens are open for free with loads of experts, advice and some free stuff.
The nation will be growing veg next year!

Will there be a bit on keeping chickens etc.
That is great news, and its about time there was something for us veggie growers on the telly. Bonus, I like Carol Klein too. :D busy_lizzie

Come on GYOVEG spill the beans please
i'd watch it but i just can't bare listening to her awful voice.
Is it Tim???
Come on , tell us! I can't take this suspense any longer...
No it isn't Tim (not sure who Tim is) but it isn't up to me to say who has been filmed. It's up to him / her to spill the beans if they want - and they can if they want!
I can say that the programme is being edited as I write and there is a lot from allotments ( and from balcony gardens, smaller surburban gardens and the RHS gardens at Harlow Carr and Rosemoor) in the series. Each programme is packed and some bits are hitting the ediit room floor. Each programme has to be 30 minutes but could easily be an hour.
The a4a contributor is great and is definately in one of the programmes.
Oh, sorry - no chickens as the series concentrates on veg ( maybe another series if we all like this one - but that's up to the powers that be) and I couldn't possibly comment re: Carol's voice!!!!!
Anything else just ask!
Okay. Male or female ? hahaha!
Good one Heldi ha ha.
OMG dont know who Tim is ( our Tim is the one with the greenhouse to die for and a seasoned vedge gardener) that should make him laugh.
Is it set on a allotment site or using the Gardeners World set?
Must find a better identity photo??
But how SWEET of 'that person' who thought that I might qualify!! No - it would have interfered with my afternoon siesta
Excellent news, can't wait - love Carol and her gravelly voice.
Ok who'se Carol and What's a TV????
???
