Hi all,
After two months in Qatar I'm beginning to get my desert allotment going. I have tomatoes and chillis off and running in the newly created garden at my villa.
I also bought some beetroot seeds in the supermarket yesterday so I'll get some of those in tomorrow. It's nice to be planting when things are dormant in the UK. Having said that it'll be different in the summer when it's close to 50 celcius here. I'll be in the dormant period then - never mind the veggies.
I had a small lawn laid last weekend. Since then it has rained on four days. I'm told by the locals here that it last rained 18 months ago, so it has been a stroke of staggering luck for me.
I'm sure it'll be back to the hosepipe next week.
I'll keep you posted on progress.
Stork.
Wow :) I'd love to see some pictures of your desert lotty!
such a difference to the rain sodden ground up here in the north, still mild though :)
Glad to hear you're up and running Stork. Pics would be great. ;D
:) Good to see you up and running Stork, must be strange putting in all those veggies knowing its near wintering conditions over here, its rained all weekend nonstop thunder and lightening this morning, but still quite mild here in North London. Hope to see some pictures of exotic plants that we can't grow here, happy digging and at least you don't have to buy any sand to store your roots in. ;D ;D ;D ;D 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) :P
