Title: All change!
Post by: Mrs Ava on November 25, 2006, 18:40:16
We are decorating!  I love decorating!!  I love the change and the freshness.  I am doing the happy wall paper stripping dance!  We are doing the hall and landing as in the 6 years we have lived here, we have never done it.  Plus, then we are going to do the kitchen as my DARLING!!!  husband has ordered me a new cooker!  A great big range stylee.  I AM OVERJOYED!  It is going to mean lots of moving around and alterations in the kitchen, but I can't tell you how excited I am.

Funny thing, number one son cried when we started stripping the hall paper and he has taken some for his bedroom.  He doesn't like change, and it disturbs him that we are taking it all off.  He is happier now that he can help, although he keeps asking why we want to do it.  He keeps sneaking bits away and putting them in his bedroom!  Is he going to end up like old Mr Trebus from Life of Grime - hoarding things.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Poor Emma - never has enough to do - you could try book-binding or some other peaceful pastime?

PS Monday sees the new oak floor go in - to replace the 'doubtful'  carpet of 45 years.

And the week after, a wood-burner. No peace!!

Another one here EJ I also enjoy decorating. Just after Charlie died  Jan 2003 I decorated the whole bungalow, kept me out of mischief and didn't have time to think... great therapy. I am about to start all over again after Christmas, kitchen and bathroom seem to be looking a bit dowdy. Once I start I will do the whole bungalow again. Much easier now than when we moved here, 3 layers of wallpaper, really horrible paintwork etc.
Lovely present from Mark, may you have years of enjoyment from the new cooker.

Snap EJ! We are busy decorating the bedroom, which has meant sleeping in the guest room which is odd, but we haven't done our room for 15 years, so really looking forward to a change.  The worst part of it has been choosing the colour scheme.  We have been through about half a dozen different match pots and curtain swatches, but have eventually decided on the design of it.  Now it is all systems go - painting first  and then the wallpaper goes on on Wednesday (good old Laura Ashley).

Happy decorating and although its an upheaval throughout the house, particularly if it is a kitchen you are changing it will be well worth it.  Fab cooker to look forward to too, which I am sure you will make great use of.  My son was exactly the same, as he hated anything changed too. We had great problems when his room needed to be decorated. :) busy_lizzie
