Thanks for your advice on the other thread.

It sounds good but I don't want to jump straright in a buy it as it is a bit over my price range of what I wanted to spend.

Fraid I haven't been able to track down the other thread but I can assure you that Kenwood are marvellous.  Mum's had a Kenwood Chef  for the last 30 years that's still going strong. They have more powerful engines, reliability, parts & attachments than other makes - particularly KitchenAid who are real wimps in the power stakes.
I have a Kenwood too - but only a year old - and I love them.  It'll be the best buy you make and well worth the money.

I've had a Kenwood mixer since first marriage in 1966, still going strong. Many replaced parts and breakdowns, but still use it nearly every day.

Have to admit that the shredding fitment (grated carrots etc) was always difficult and fell to pieces last year. Maybe they are made better now. Mincer and liquidiser perfect.

JW, did look in my book for FP691 and doesn't specify if hard fruit in juicer.  However, apart from that, the 691 has many more attachments and is just as sturdy as the one you found and for the same price too!

For more info you could google for Kenwood - you find it eventually, after all the electronics and stuff!

I acquired a 1970s era Chef second hand. Nothing wrong with it! Mum's early 60s one is still going (though at one point did need a small fix when the motor went a bit wobbly).

Best machines built for cakes, mixing etc. Acquired mine to make my wedding cake and it's made a few more large fruit cakes since!

Not sure about the three-in-ones, but love my chef (even if my kitchen's too small and it has to live in the loft most of the time!). Kenwood in my limited experience (take with pinch of salt?) do seem to build to last.

I have my mums Kenwood Chef too ... but sadly I dropped the bowl - the white glass type thing - so if anyone has a defunct machine but the bowl survived  ::) ... please give me a call!!

Well worth keeping if I can  ;)
