Title: My new Gooseberry Bush
Post by: Halifax Town AFC on November 17, 2006, 17:39:27
I went to the garden centre after work today, I have bought a Gooseberry Invicta 2Y/BUSH.

I don't know if I can plant this straight in to compost or should I mix it with muck n compost bit a grit ??

As I have never owned a gooseberry bush I don't know how to look after them properly.

Again please can someone give me advise ;)

They aren't that tricky... I'd put it straight into the garden/plot with a bit of bonemeal... let it grow and then prune out any branches that are in the way next year!
;D

Just remember to pick off those gooseberry sawfly caterpillars or give it the odd spray.

Keep your eyes open for little green caterpillars along the edges of the leaves; they're easy to knock off if you do see them.

I, too, planted an invicta last year but no crop yet.  MS am very envious but what did I do wrong?

ours was 3 years old, we moved it from our plot when the bulldozers moved in so maybe that's why we got a crop ?  :)
