..??
Hi Tim
Only just seen this thread - what do you want to do and I'll see if I can help
Glow
Always there!!
I so admire the home-made jar labels that folk show in "Chutneys" etc, that I would love to occupy my mind in that direction. I just write in felt tip on the top!!
So??
Depends what software you have on your computer
The ideal piece of software would be something along the lines of Microsoft Publisher.
Publisher has a wizard that will pretty much do everything for you except eat the Chutney. Paper can be bought that is either a single sheet of adhesive A4 or multi-labels. The wizard should work out everything for printing if you tell it what you are printing to. But I would test on plain paper first as the paper isnt cheap.
Note when buying paper there are two types inkjet and laser make sure you get the correct one!
What software have you got on your PC that you are comfortable using - there may be templates available for you to download and tweak.

Tim if you have MSoft Word have a look here
http://www.microsoft.com/canada/home/templategallery/ (http://www.microsoft.com/canada/home/templategallery/)
Click Food and Homemade wine or preserve labels, interestingly under gardening there is a seed packet template which I was about to start looking for - so thank you!
Thanks, Glowy - I'll let you know when I surface!!
A pretty lousy effort - but getting somewhere.
Now to find out how to copy it to the other 11 labels on the sheet?? Damned if I'm going to redo it 11 times!!
Tim, that is not a lousy effort at all! Keep working out how to print multiple labels - they look great!
Kathi :)
Oh, thanks!!
Is it possible just to copy and paste onto the other labels Tim?
Haven't had much luck with that.
Hi Tim, what program are you using?
Assuming that you have bought some sheets of sticky labels, in Word do the following:
From the menu select Tools then Envelopes & Labels
A small window will open. Click on the "Labels" tab (as opposed to Envelopes).
Click on "Options". Another window will open. Select A4 Sizes, then from the list select the labels that you've bought. If you can't find them, then you may have to define your own by pressing New Label. You'll have to measure up your sheet of labels and enter the dimensions.
Once you've got the labels selected or defined, then press OK., followed by New Document. This will create a blank page with the label shapes and postions defined by a Word Table. I suggest that you save the blank document as a template which can then be copied and reused.
Simply copy your design into each label box and print it.
If you are using ordinary paper and are going to glue it onto the jars, I suggest that you select the table and use Table Properties/Borders & Shading to put a line around the boxes that you can then cut with a craft knife.
Right! I'm beginning to think that I should stick to felt tip??
But since you've all got me started on this, I must see it through.
Be back a while later!
Tim, are you highlighting right clicking, copy then moving to next label and right clicking to paste? This works for me. ;)
Barnowl - the one Glowy offered.
Maggie - yes, but doesn't work for me - still struggling!!
Melbourne - lots of fun there!!
Giving it a rest for a moment, because every time I'm halfway through the design, "sorry, we have a problem & have to close". Just a little infuriating!!
And no labels or gummed paper available yet.
Hope the following helps....
In MS Word, having got the design, make sure it is the same size as the labels, then highlight it and click Tools->Letters and mailings->envelopes and labels.
Click on the tab for 'Labels' and make sure the option "full page of same label" is selected.
Select the Label paper using Options.
Print off on plain paper first and hold up in front of the label paper to make sure the margins are OK.
I find fast jets FAR easier to master!!
But thanks again - not exactly as instructed, but at least I've got my first page of labels.
Later - only just found the right way to highlight!!
Great stuff Tim, glad youv'e had success.I don't know what I'll do when I don't have a 20something around to help when required. ;D
I'm worried too - when ours are here, they are 57 & 56 respectively!!
Do self-adhesive label soak off?
