Title: Anyone else started blanching yet?
Post by: supersprout on November 11, 2006, 12:36:46
Red rib dandelion looked a bit scruffy so I cut down the ones at the end and started to blanch them. Is it too early, or is anyone else blanching?

first year with Red Rib calendula but yes, I'm hoping for tender, slightly bitter shoots - I don't think I'll kill them with the black bucket treatment ;)

hmm, might try these as I'm keen on the bitter salads such as the chicories, frissees etc. I tend to tie my frissees up to aid blanching and sometimes try the bucket idea but this can attract slugs - even the so called self blanching varieties need a bit of help but all have succumbed to the frosts now - so nect year  ;)
