do I have to dry the pumpkin seeds before I can roast them, they taste brill roasted so I thought I'd try doing some of our own, we've got loads
I just roasted mine freshly scooped from the pumpkin, sprinkled a bit of salt and pepper over the top. delicious!
thanks ted, will try that tomorrow
you may want to drizzle a bit of oil over too, helps stop them becoming too dry.
Enjoy- trina
how long do you roast them for , trina?
Roast mine as above with a shaking of either chilli powder or cajun spices! :)
OK - stupid question no. 38465896 coming up - but I grew atlantic giants and the seeds are about 1 inch long and white - do I need to hull them to get the edible bit as they do not resemble anything I would call a pumpkin seed at the moment.....
I've read that you can roast them whole, but personally I think I'd "peel" them. I was in France recently and at a market they had courgette seeds on a stall - I asked the guy if they were to eat or to plant and he said eat and offered a couple to try, so my mum took one and popped it in her mouth and the guy burst out laughing, peeled one and gave it to her!
I saved some seeds from my Halloween pumpkin to do just what you are doing and tried to peel a couple and found it a bit tedious, and they also don;t come out green cos the green bit peels off too. Looked more like big sunflower seeds. Not that it matters!
;D
Grow pumpkins with "naked" seeds (not so much hull if any) like Lady Godiva, makes it a lot easier.
