Title: Whats eating my rhubarb?
Post by: Sparky on April 16, 2004, 16:49:58
Just braved the rain to pop to the lottie and have been depressed to find something has eaten away at the very palest, yougest rhubarb leaves.  I had always thought nothing ate the leaves as they were toxic but someone is definitely munching them.  What ever it is seems to not be so keen on the dark green ones, and hasn't touched my neighbours ones which are much more mature plants!  Is there anything I can do as I was really fancying yummy rhubrb later this year :'( :'( :'(

My rhubarb leaves (including the big ones) are being slowly laced away. Looks like the sort of thing a catepillar does.

Sounds like leaf spot to me. Irregular brown spots and holes? If it is, it's not too big a worry. The affected leaves need to be burnt and the plant given a foliar feed.
