I can send a packet but what type do you suggest, flowers or veg, will lettuce and toms grow there, shall I just send what I've got and let them sort it out ?

seeds that will grow well in arid conditions, I'm sending tomatoes, melon, peppers.....dont know what else yet, dont forget they only want full unopened packets.
I hope loads of people read this and send seeds....

Sorry - just realised me laughing might have seemd really harsh - wasn't laughing at the prisoners, just had a mental picture of people climbing up the peas and beans!

Anyway, I think I will send a packet too - I just hope that they end up in the hands they are intended for....

Thank you for your e-mail. Shortly after we wrote that article, the prisoners who were keeping the garden were actually released to Albania. We have since written to the authorities at Guantanamo asking if we can send the seeds that have been donated to other prisoners. We are yet to hear back. This means that we are still accepting seeds, and would gratefully accept your contribution, although at present, we are uncertain as to whether we will be able to send them.
