They are cheap, but only because we have already bought them with the money we pay into the Common Agricultural Policy!
;D
Yes, I always thought it should be called the Common Rural Agricultural Policy, as the abbreviation would spell out the deal we get.
We get loads of seeds from france when we pop over on day trips, much better seeds than from UK
No argument, but in what way, Andy?
Better variety?
Better germination rate?
Better flavour?
Better reliability?
Better shelf life?
Compared with whose English seed?
we use various in uk from different places.
We now get seeds from tesco in france but originally from a little shop in middle of nowhere and had great success.
They are foil sealed which helps.
Never had any failures with them with great cucumbers and toms etc.
So whenever we pop over we grab some seeds.
The majority, however, are normally ordered online when we need them and start getting ready for the coming year.
As I speak the "wife" is wanting me to get off here so she can start ordering having just cleaned greenhouses!!!
I was going to leave it till end march/april and head over to get the shallots as they taste yum
and given the price of the charlotte potatoes i think there a bargin but thats a hudge box! so i might see if my plot neighbour wants to split it.
Mea Culpa... if I go on a quick trip to France the car suspension suffers, but not under the weight of seeds and seed potatoes!
::)
Shift work again, Andy??
Tim, not sure what that means????
Call me thick but it went woooosh.......
straight over me ed ???
Wife taking over??
yeah she always does :D
Must admit, we buy lots of seed when we go to France. We go to an agricultural merchant called Pointe Verte. The main reason for buying there has been cost, they sell large packets much cheaper. We have had a very high germination rate using this seed, given the high temperatures over the last two years. We also buy our leek plants in the local market, last year we paid 4 euros for 125 plants, the car smelt wonderfull on the way home! :) :)
Pointe Verte...Where is it and do tet speak english better than I do french???
Pointe Verte is a group of agricultural/horticultural merchants. We usually visit them when we visit our friends who have moved to Brittany. We use the branch in Plestin Les Greves, but we speak enough French to make ourselves understood.
Does anyone know of any French seedmerchants that do mail order
