Sorry for a big post but I think it needed being seen from each angle ...
cheers ..Jim
P.S. Forgot to say its an old border fork with outside tines bent in as near a right angle as you can get it ...
we've got an old border fork, one of the tines was badly bent so Ray cut the outside ones off, leaves a nice little fork, great for leeks and getting in between things
I broke two tines off a fork and we use it to dig dandelions and such like...
;D
I use a spade on the long ones; I've never had one that didn't come up that way yet. I find a fork won't get the really long ones, but that may just be my soil.
Brill idea, off to tip tomorrow to see if I can find a £1 bargain that I can bend, don't always take my good fork up to plot if I'm only harvesting. Don't mind leaving a cheapie in the shed. :)
Probally none left but local Tesco was selling forks and spades last week, £1.99 & £2.99
I bought one of their cheap spades a few years back; it's got a nasty plastic handle and the blade isn't as tight as it outgh to be, but it's turned out to be stronger than it looked, and is still going strong. Since I hardly use a spade now, it's all I need.
A friend borrowed my sack barrow which was returned tonight, plus...........a fork!!!
She has moved to a flat and no longer needs it-would I like it?......WOULD I??? :o
how's that for luck, they don't come any cheaper. ;D
