I was on my computer yesterday and a message came up , said it was form Microsoft about downloading a free drive cleaner, as it said people could get personal information from sites that I go on, and this would stop it, I downloaded it and it done some sort of scan and said that there was a few things found that could affect my personal security, and do I want them cleaned up on, pressing the clean up button it went on to a page where they were asking for a one off payment to preform the operation. I did not agree to this and promptly removed the download from my computer. As anyone else had any thing like this happen to them.
Anything that pops up on my PC and says it's free I stick straight into the garbage can, I class it as doorstep selling and deaf it out immediately >:( I've heard some will leave you with a bug if you don't go with them :o
I will however accept freebies that I find whilst doing a search ;D
If you go back to page 3 on Computers/Internet, you'll find an excellent thread started by Iggy titled Virus & Spyware removal, in which he lists what to use and how.
Really good info ( sorry haven't figured out how to add links)
Richard,
I had this on 30/10, about a Drive Cleaner, I ignored it.
do yourself a huge favour and do a spyware scan ASAP. I can recommend the one that you can download from microsoft or an excelklent (and free) program is called spybot. Updates from the internet with definitions of the latest nasties and cleans everything I have ever had.
Hope this helps,

Don't believe it, anything that Microsoft does that is essential will be downloaded automatically as an update. They are trying to con you.
