Title: Heather location
Post by: growgirl on October 30, 2006, 16:09:42
Hi,

I planted a heather (culluna vulgaris annemarie) close to and in the shade of a plum tree to close off a gap.

I've never been lucky with ericas, cullanas etc. so want to give this one half a chance. Would this be Ok there or should I move it?

They'll grow as an undershrub layer in pine forest, but bear in mind that a natural pine forest is pretty open woodland, at least in Scotland. They don't like heavy shade.

Thanks Robert. I had a look at it today and it seems to be doing OK still. It gets a touch of afternoon sun. If it starts going downhill I'll definitely move it.
