According to the HDRA website, you can use old woolly jumpers as hanging basket liners:
QuotePros: cheap (or even free!); adapts to fit all sizes of basket; easy to plant up sides (make small holes in fabric and push plants through); a good talking point.
Cons: might be too colourful?
Hi Multi,
To be sure 'tis true!! 8)
I've been doing this for years and it works. Really is cheap too. I pinch all Ian's holey jumpers (saves me darning them) and he doesn't seem to mind too much. ;) ;)

...and when you've finished with them in the hanging basket, they can go in the compost heap (providing they are natural fibre!)
The ultimate in recycling?

Can you only use ones made out of 100% wool or cotton for lining baskets?
Hi Aqui - No - any old jummy will do - but only the natural fibre ones end up in the compost bin
