Title: Things we do...
Post by: sjg12 on October 21, 2006, 16:12:08
The things we do for our allotments

I was up at 6am today to get a trailer full of mushroom compost, had to be at the sheds for 7.00am as they were emptying one of them. Still at least they loaded it onto the trailer for me via a conveyor belt trailer was 8ft x 4ft trailer and was piled high all for £5.00  ;D ;D ;D

just finished spreading it on the top end of my plot as it is clay and has not done well this year hope this sets it up for next year.

Just had a bath and feel / smell more human now ;D

Yeah excellent price, it's £5.00 for a trailer load i thought they might charge me extra as it was a big trailer and was well loaded but all they wanted was a fiver, think i will be back for more soon if only to build up my pile ready for spring.

Simon.

Do you deliver?  ;D
I am still reminded by OH of one Valentines Day  loading Horse muck into sacks in the snow and carting the muck back to the Lottie...

Yes, other people must think some of us are unhinged. I am currently collecting free woodchippings by bicycle, a big heavy bag most evenings, to make allotment paths with.

Another thing I am doing at the moment is hanging off a ladder into a vast skip, fishing about for large cardboard boxes with a swan-necked hoe. I am covering new allotment with them to kill off grass and weeds.

PS Very jealous of the mushroom compost. A man used to sell it nearby for £1 per smallish bag! I bought it bit by bit, and I am convinced that my heavy concrete turned into the lovely soft loam it now is because of the mushroom compost.

Off to Google for a mass supply....

we were up at 8 and down to the stables for 12 bags of manure, lovely stuff, really well rotted, got no road so have to bag it, we must be crackers  :P
