Title: Cellophane discs for sealing jars?
Post by: triffid on October 20, 2006, 21:40:35
Evening all...  just wondered if I could pick a few brains -- locally, I can no longer buy those useful cellophane discs that you moisten and use to cover jam jars.

Any ideas on who would stock them mail-order/ online?

Many thanks ... and fingers crossed, as I've just used the last ones I had!

Lakeland do them :)

  ::)

So how dim do I feel?

Of course Lakeland would do them!
And at least I haven't already ordered the big packs of waxed discs from Ascott's, cause Lakeland's packs have everything down to the elastic bands.
Fab!

Thanks so much SS

;D

 ;D

I have a ready and willing supply of child labour... small triff and tiny triff adore doing stuff like that!

... and I inherited a wardrobe full of bolts, lengths and swatches of fabric from my aunt which (to OH's intense irritation  ;D) I won't chuck out!

SS I'm sooo jealous, we have no Lakeland near us.  It is my idea of heaven!  And the Windermere shop is even better....  I have been ordering from them for at least 27 years!Mind you if there was one I would spend too much money in it, so perhaps it is better, OH would definitely think so. ;)

And for the rest of us that live in a 'Lakeland' wilderness, there is of course www.lakeland.co.uk.  Also, of course, they have a very efficient mail order system.   I really would have to say that it would be nice to have one of their stores nearer that 50+ miles away!!!

I had to shop around many many shops  but someone on the beeb board told me that their local Tesco had 'em, so I got them there...

And now I haven't got a proper excuse for visiting Lakeland any more: my local Waitrose (having told me they wouldn't be re-stocking this item) just ... re-stocked.  ::)

Maybe I just won't mention that to OH, then I don't have to face the Spanish Inquisition when I say I'm going to Lakeland.

... I'll only have to face the Spanish Inquisition when I come home laden with carrier bags  ;D

If you only want one item the postage cost kills it, though.

Ah but at least it all comes in plain brown packaging - easy to dispose of without raising suspicions...

I couldn't agree more, greyhound, though I have never yet paid P&P on my order from Lakeland.  My order, going through all the catalogues, seems to be a bit like Topsy - it just growed!!

I treat the Lakeland and seed catalogues the same.  I originally make out a list of everything I would like/like to grow.  Then I get my sensible hat on, and then I get realistic hat on.  The order(s) are a fraction of the original. draft

Well it gives me something to do in the depressing, increasingly darkening days.  Yes I know I'm sad as opposed to suffering from SAD.

Anyway - roll on Christmas, and we'll be past the winter solstice, and we will have turned the shortest day, and  it willl be getting light again for longer
