I was 40 last weekend and all my family and friends kept asking what i wanted for my birthday. My hubby kept telling them i wanted practical things ie slabs for my allotment.... But the thing i told everyone i wanted most was bags of manure (as my allotment can not have a big load delivered as my plot is not accessable from the road and it is impossible to dump on the road and move quick enough).
I received jewelry and smellies which is very nice (though i hardly wear jewelry and ive eczema so i can't use smellies) ....but nothing practical and definitely no manure!
I wonder how many other ladies out there would prefer practical things for there birthdays?
P.s my hubby bought me some boots that i desperately need for work...what a love!
I got some manure from my husband as a mother's day present- I was really pleased!
i wish that was the case too. My dad buys me some useless crap sometimes and i always end up thinking if he'd saved that fiver and bought me a bag of daffs.
I always like getting useful presents ;D I have gotten a Wheel Barrow an Electric hedge clippers GC vouchers Garden furniture cover. It is so nice when people buy you nice useful presents isn't it 8) ;D 8) ;D :D
we got a load of weed control, a saw and a ladybird box last year, we have a wish list system so at least we get some things we want :D
;D I bought my wife a steam iron, she never spoke to me for a week :( how unappreciative can you get ??? ;D

aww...you should have gotten her "how to be a good wife" for dummies instead. :o
My 50th birthday present was 50 slabs for the garden, from husband, by request, and I was delighted.
Over the years since he has given me a petrol strimmer, hoe, new spade and fork, all sorts of really nice things that I use all the time.
Hadn't thought of asking for manure......but it's a good idea.
My girlfriend said that she would buy me a shed today for Christmas if that's what I want (means she cannot think of anything else and I was looking at them at the time) but nice thought any way.

I wish Namissa would go for practical things like that. Being a fairly traditional Madingo, all she ever wants is yellow metal. I think I've finally got her trained to buy me book tokens not clothes though.
I had a ton of manure for Mothers day this year too from the daughters, and they barrowed it from the gate to my plot. For my birthday I had an incinerator this month.Brilliant ;D
