From this time onwards, it gets more and more difficult to see a thing in the greenhouse when I get home in the evening (and before anyone suggests it's not because of drinks after work). I've got mains power so this year I'm definitely going to put some lighting in (instead of trying to work by moving around a bedside lamp).
Any suggestions please, as to the best form of lighting?
It's only 6ft x 8ft and has staging all round
It may be relevant that I run a frost free greenhouse from about Feb.
OH ran cable through conduit to my greenhouse and fixed up socket for my heater and two conical lights which he fixed to the roof of the greenhouse. Mine also is 6' x 8'. Work a treat. As far as we can remember, got the lights from screwfix.com
Can't find the lights online but probably worth sending off for the catalogue. Great bargains for all sorts of things.
Hope this helps a little.
Look for the blue touch paper in the corner?
Sorry couldn't resist that one!
;D
Well Saddad, I've got the fumigating candle but haven't resorted to it yet :)
It was more the waterproofing aspect I was concerned about - tend to get a very heavy condensation build up overnight at the moment and I seem to recall an old adage about water and electricity not mixing? ???
If you use exterior quality fixtures and fittings you should be OK
:)
Just to add to that, make sure that the supply has an rcd fitted, otherwise it is not compliant with regulations and could compromise your insurance ... not to mention your health ...
Thanks. Makes sense that if it's ok outside it'll be ok inside :)
RCD alreay in place
Was having a look on the screwfix site if you have no power in your green house you could always use a rechargeable light.

I have no idea how long they last or take to charge but it is an option.

thanks Gary - I'll bear it in mind: would avoid all the wiring :)
i bought a rechargeable light for the shed(comes with solar panel to charge light).........total waste of money! you have to look at the light to see if its on!!!! I'm not joking either
Did you buy the same one, as I was looking for one myself thats why I knew about this one, but have no details of how good/bad they are?
Gary
bought mine from a garden centre about £16
get more light from a glow worms ass!
try freecycle to see if there are any solar lights out there?
Id better start breeding glow worms then ... ;D
Just seen this on E-bay might be worth a look at.
