Title: Raspberry questions
Post by: Kea on October 18, 2006, 15:59:16
My Autumn raspberries planted this spring have had the odd ripe fruit all summer but are still covered in unripened fruit. This last week about a punnet full suddenly ripened. It's OK this year as we're still having warm weather but next year may be a different story. Next year do you think my raspberries might ripen sooner?
Next question, my summer raspberries also planted in spring (Glen clova) have annoyingly produced some fruit on their new canes which shouldn't have produced until next year. I don't know what to do now as you should cut out fruited canes but that leaves me with nothing next season so I'm quite confused.

our autumn raspberries have only been ripening for the last three weeks, our summer ones always fruit when they like, the only way to stop them is to cut the fruit off when it shouldn't be there, we've found that encourages them to fruit at the right time,

Sounds like my Autumn ones aren't behaving unusually then.
