"Pick only the young & tender leaves for salads"!!
more like middle aged spread :-)
I saw a field with two rows of these and two of the fierce reddy-purple ones a couple of days ago in the Autumn sunshine tim - lovely
So will this go through the Winter??
Yup, Tim, you'll have it all winter long. It also will sprout little florets, which are also quite nice to eat, in March, depending on the weather. Yummy!
all the kales - red, green and black, keep really well through the winter and get better as it gets colder (should also kill off the whitefly that they are probe to getting as well
I grow them just for picking through winter and would say in my experience the cavalo nero keeps the best - not such big plants either, and don't they look great at this time of year :)
They look great Tim, going to grow more "greens" next year..hopefully on plot number 2..if the council sort them selves out!
Regards
Matt
