Does anyone know where I can buy a garden brazier, or how i can improvise one?

Depends on how much you want to pay - Google throws up numerous sites.  To improvise, how about the drum from an old washing machine balanced on some house bricks?

I bought one of these for 12.99 from Downham Market garden store about a year ago :)
Worth every penny just for the security of leaving the plot with the thing still smouldering, and perfect cinders to spread after. After the first use it goes rusty and unlovely, so less chance of it getting pinched ;D

Darn it- just took an old washing machine to the tip today! But if I can get one for £12.99 that's not bad.
