Impressive list of seeds Cambourne! I'm in Cambridgeshire too - is your name a clue to where you are? If so great that they included allotments in their overall plans!
And how lovely being near the lake - lots of lovely wildlife to eat all your bugs!
One day I too will have a plan like yours! ;D
Nice blog Cam. Lovely location. Impressive list of seeds you have there ;D Good luck with the Battle of the Weeds, certainly looks as though you're winning 8)
PS Amanda's just posted while I've been typing this. Why did the word 'impressive' occur to both of us?!
shucks, your making me feel like i know what i am doing !
Spent the weekend taking off the shed roof and butting it back on as it was saggy, but hopeing to get more weeding done while i can. Luckly the weeds are on the membrane so i can just pull them up.
The wildlife ( mostly rooks ) delight in pulling up my onions they sit on the fence watching me so i am going to make a scarecrow and pop it up at the end of the month.
The wide tracks down the middle will be filled in the next couple of weeks as well, i have the posts now to get the vines up and with any luck will be planing them in Febuary.
In 2 years i plan on adding another gravel board to the beds (space already planned for in stakes) to make the raised beds a full 1ft high. Which will mean less kneeling and bending. It also means more fresh soil which will allow me to restart bedding system.
Always remember Cam that if it won't grow weeds it won't grow NOWT. Heavy clay soils are very fertile, they hold onto all the nutrients, they are hard work but well worth it!
;D
yep, i appreciate that.
However bad backs and arthritus dont go with digging clay :-)
theres tons of worm activity so it should mix the clay with the compost over time. Thats why i am building the beds up gradualy.
Great blog Cambourne 7. Someone on my allotment (also Cambridgeshire) has covered their leaky shed all over with roofing felt....not a great look but it keeps it dry...probably double the cost of your shed though.
Ha, yes i have some board i and am considering skinning the inside. But i think that just might make the shead 2 heavy.
Have also considered expanding foam and spraying it on the walls, but its expensive....
I have replaced the roof and will go up and take some new pcitures today if its not 2 wet....
very nice indeed Cam, and lovely views. will pop in from time to time to see how things are progressing.
i love looking at other people's places.
;D
yes its a little spartin at the moment mostly weeds but i will get there eventualy maybe the next 10 years :-)
Lovely site, nice view. You've done a great job.
I too am impressed by your seed list ;D
Thanks i am sure i am going to have great fun over the winter working out what i am going to put where :-)
Considering the seed tape blanket approach for fast sowing thats all spaced out right..
