;D As the title says really:
What can I plant at this time of year? I've got a brand new (rather overgrown) allotment and I've cleared a nice 3 Metre square area ready for planting so that I've got something to show for all the hard work...
BUT... What can you plant in October? I know Garlic and I know I can split my Rhubarb sets (or rather my parents) Any other suggestions?
Cheers
Daniel
buy in some fruit or ask to take cuttings from other plotters; it is still so mild you might get away with some oriental salads; ditto green manures; spring cabbage plants; plant some herbs; autumn sown peas and broad beans - just a few suggestions :)
you can get some onion in for over wintering
sow winter lettuce outdoors, cloche over winter :)
Splitting your parents seems a bit drastic!
::)
We have just sown Hungarian Grazing Rye as a green manure. Hopefully, this will ensure that the ground is in good condition for next year rather that continuing with winter sowing.
LOL @ philandjan ;)
Well I'm down the lottie with a petrol strimmer this weekend to clear the ground down - then I'll hire a rotavator... I think I'll go down the road of green manure as well for a large section of the ground - I don't know what's been grown there before so it'd be good to plant something to give a little back etc! :)
Cheers for all the suggestions guys!
