Title: Potatoes - a belated warning!
Post by: tim on October 06, 2006, 11:59:49
Blight - cut out the haulms & burnt off. Two weeks later:

1. Unprotected, the soil was washed away by the very heavy rain & exposed the tubers. So - with hindsight, I might have covered with fleece??

OR

2. Of course, the b----y slugs had had a field day. And, since the crop was only a large barrow load, I might have done better to lift & use as needed for as long as they stayed usable??

Or - cover with mulch, which would prevent greening, and then be dug in as you lifted them.

Well, I did warn you to soak the bed with coffee - it does work.

Alright, alright!!

So how much coffee for a 50' run, what dilution & when?

Since we only use 'instant', we'd have to buy the real stuff?

Spuds are small this year due to lack of water!

coffee grounds from Starbucks tim! as much as you want here, they create six sackfuls a week :)
Use them as a mulch and you get full marks lol
top tip: the Saturday bag is the biggest ::)
