Title: Seed company websites
Post by: Georgie on September 29, 2006, 19:47:00
Well I've ordered all my seeds for next year today but it wasn't as easy as I'd hoped.  I don't know if it's me but I found the Suffolk Herbs/Kings Seeds site almost impossible to use.  I can only think that they haven't updated their website to match the 2007 catalogue.  Very frustrating.   >:(  The Organic Gardening catalogue and T&M on the other hand were a joy to use as ever.   ;D

I have just finished typing up all the seeds i have left and the ones i have been kindly sent from seed swaps and now have an idea what i need to order.

I have all the seed cataloges here waiting for me and i plan to go though them tomorrow when my hubbie is driving up to birmingham - i get board in the passanger seat!

so i am very envious that you have already ordered yours!

How are you keeping a record of your seeds? And how do you decide where to buy seeds is it only on price??? In the past i have gone by pretty pictures  ;D

it would be handy if there was a sticky on here with links to seed companies and then people could post how they rate the service and also post if there are special offers etc ( as i always seem to be a day to late for offers)

just a thought

Hi

I am going to use browns for the first time.

I have also obtained seeds from kings in the past and they were fine.

But what i did find was the amazing range even for simple things on offer from the different suppliers for example

- DT Brown - Parnips - Avon Resister - 85pence for 450 seeds
- Kings - Parnips - Avon Resister - 90pence for 600 seeds
- Organic Catalogue - Avon Resister - £1.15 for 475 seeds

So in this case i will be ordering this item from Kings  ;D

I have spread all my veggie shopping items over thompson and morgan ( got free £5 voucher ), DT Brown ( got free £2 voucher ), Organic Catalogue and Kings. So i think i get the lot excluding potatoes and fruit plants for about £18.

Hi Cambourne.  I like to buy organic seed where I can and I agree that quantity of seed and price varies considerably.  If I needed lots of seeds I'd probably use Simpsons ( http://www.simpsonsseeds.co.uk/ ) because they come highly recommended for both price and service on this forum in another thread.  But as I've only ordered about 12 packets, I go on past experience mainly, unless a pretty picture catches my eye.   ;)
