Title: Biggest Parsnips?
Post by: Tinkie_Bear on September 28, 2006, 07:43:03
Please can anybody reccomend a variety of parsnip that grows very big - hubby's drinking buddies are having another veg growing competition for next year & guess who will be responsible for seed selection.

Any advise on getting them big or varieties I should try / avoid would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Helen

Exhibition Long is just one of the show varieties, as the name suggests - I think it is the length of the tapered root that counts in parsnip showing and people grow them in long pipes. I think some have been known to grow as long as 5ft or more  - don't boys like to compete  ;D
