I have a feeling now is the time to start treating them.  My pots are alive with the little *#$*ers!  I believe the idea is you wait until the soil warms up a little bit, then away you go.  I have seen it mail order but can't htink what it is called.  I shall hunt and if I find out I will post a follow up.  They are the devils weevils!  >:( >:( >:( >:(

http://www.defenders.co.uk/vine_weevil_control.htm

try these peeps out.  I have used them before, it all came back to me in a flash, and it did the trick for a summer, but I think once the weevils are gone, the nematodes go, then you are back to square one next year.

As I said a couple of days ago, Armillatox??

Yes - the goodies die off if there's no food. Poor things. Never got a thank you. And, for my aphid killers, I have found it V difficult to achieve the right night temp at the right time, = Tim

Do not use Armillotox on any Sedum or Sempervivum, it wipes them out.

I presume you are getting these little b*****s in potted up plants?  I find I don't have any problems in the garden, just in pots.  I use Insect Control Compost by Levingtons (used to be called Plant Protection Compost) and I never have any problems with vine weevil damage.  I just either change the compost completely each spring or scoop out the top compost and replace with the IC Compost.  I don't know how expensive the other treatments are but the compost at my local nursery is £3.99 for a large bag.

Dare I?  Want to hear a vine weevil - or even a few?  http://cmave.usda.ufl.edu/~rmankin/blackvineweevilsounds.html (http://cmave.usda.ufl.edu/~rmankin/blackvineweevilsounds.html). :) ???

A question (having never seen a vine weevil) - reading between the lines, are they an unplanned "BOGOF" from garden centre plants?

All best, Gavin
