hiya,

apart from cutting back and digging out the roots, i don't know how to get rid of your roses. would no-one around you like to have them? (they could dig them out  ;D )

anyway welcome to a4all, a wonderful place to be. how about some pics, we love pics here.

Hiya! good luck with the digging ::) are the roses forming a hedge somewhere or just scattered around? Some are like rotten teeth & come out easily, but others can be Bs...if you really can't get them out after you've cut them down, try RootOut, cover the stumps with black plastic & leave them to decompose?

Cheers, Lishka

Welcome Flatcap!,

My plot was over 10 feet high all through...9 metres x 25 metres with loads and loads of bushes.......The tool I got was the best  £28 pound likely to be spent....called a Azada and it includes postage it has a 47 ins handle and blade of 7 and half ins width  and weighs just 3.3 lbs...

Was going to rotovate until I came across this tool and now am selling the rotovator!.......

My technique is to dig under the weed, whatever it is, and lift it out. They're great for getting stuff like nettles or tree roots, but not for bindweed and the like, as they go straight through the roots. It's better to use a fork for those and tease them out gently.
