I wonder if you could answer a question I have- I have just
received some Astrantia major, Eryngium Triparititum, oliverianum and agavifloum and primula seed. I know these seeds are fresh -- is it better to sow now or wait until spring. Also do any of them need to be sown in special soil? ???

Primula I would (and have) sow now. I just sprinkle them over regular multi purpose compost - I don't cover, but I do give the pot a tap to settle it, water, and they come up like cress within the week! I'm afraid I can't helo you with the others as I have always sown astrantia and eryngium in the spring.
Thanks EJ - its off to the potting shed I go.
