Title: Help!
Post by: mrsnesbitt on September 18, 2006, 15:38:28
I was shelling some beans and ate about 10.
I think they may have been kidney beans..........
will I be OK?

I have posted a picture of them on my blog as I wasn't sure what they were....now I am a bit worried as I think kidney beans are poisonous!!!!!

They look like kidney beans to me.

They contain a plant lectin, PHA, which incidentally is found in some other beans too.
If you eat significant quantities you can get a stomach upset similar to food poisoning.

Not sure what constitutes a significant quantity, hope its not 10 though.  :-\
I found the information here.
