Title: Chances for outdoor cucumbers producing?
Post by: Hyacinth on September 17, 2006, 15:05:02
I'm stripping down stuff today (the runners have already gone :'() but I'm looking at a cucumber (variety unknown) growing in a pot outdoors. There are embryonic cucs & some new flowers. It's produced OK this year. Looking healthy. Chances of the plant growing viable cucs outdoors in B'ham? As it's in a pot, could move it into the g/house if that might be worth it? Otherwise, onto the compost heap with it...

Thanks for any input.

it would have to be one of those warm to very warm autumns and it is the cooler nights that do the damage so a g/h would be best or fleece, feed and water as usual and cross fingers and toes and do all the usual things depending on whether male of female etc, harvest small - can but try

I picked two outdoor types off my plants outside in pots today and I have high hopes for the remaining babies/flowers.  Ever the optimist but they have two chances I reckon.   ;D
