Title: sweet corn
Post by: jools on September 14, 2006, 08:09:29
although i have been logging onto this site for a while, this is my first posting- i am just  so thrilled with this allotment stuff i have to say something and share it with you all !
i took over my plot in April, it had been left a year or so and being new,i thought that this year i would clear the site and maybe grow a few potatoes. but, its been addictive. the site is clear (well almost) and i have had TONS of veg....three varieties of potato, red and white onions, courgettes, blackberries, cucumbers(lovely and crunchy), beans, carrots(two varieties),beetroot (lovely stuff), salads, peppers, chilli's, herbs and various flowers for colour. but last night, the thing that really was the icing on the cake was my sweet corn.  my first corn was picked and  cooked within the hour and ....wow. there is nothing to compare with your own grown sweet corn straight off the plot. i just wish I'd had an allotment years ago.

So many joys from having an allotment, even the humble carrot is a new taste experience. Glad to hear you are discovering these delights, and good luck ...
