Title: Lost ducks.
Post by: Emm P on September 13, 2006, 16:38:28
Earlier this year, a neighbour found a duck with ten very young ducklings in her front garden.
We tried catching them. We managed to get the babies, but mother avoided capture.
So, we phoned all of the usual - RSPCA etc, and were told to leave them alone, and they would find their way back to where they had come from.
There is an Ecology Park quite close, but the ducks would have had several roads to cross, and we were worried about their safety.
But, we couldn't do anything about it ourselves.

So the babies were put onto the pond at the back of the house - and mother followed.
They remained there until next day, when they suddenly vanished.
No more was heard about them, so we can just hope that they were all OK.
We were later told that the mother must have been the one who lays her eggs by a nearby railway every year.

You can only just see some of the babies in this picture.
