Title: web address bar
Post by: Margaret on September 12, 2006, 21:56:39
Can someone advise please? This may seem like a silly question and i bet there is a really easy answer !!

Up to a little while ago i was able to type into the space below the toolbar, any web address that i wanted to find. Then for some strange reason it disappeared and i have tried everything but cannot get it back again!!

Any ideas?Thanks.

Right click on the area at the top of the screen, where your menus are. You should see an option - address bar - this needs to be selected (shown by being ticked).

Hope this is your problem, as otherwise it sounds a bit more complicated.  :)

Alternatively, you can select the same option via view - toolbars - then select address bar ...

Thanks for that.I have tried that, and all that happens is that a little box with "address" appears in the right hand corner,at the end of the tool bar. When you click on it,nothing happens!! So i am a bit puzzled!!

Hello Mrs KP.We sorted it out by thought transference across the web waves..................... ;D ;D

No actually we chatted in chat!!Go to VIEW at top of screen,go to TOOLBARS untick "lock toolbars",making sure "address box" IS tickedClick on address box and drag to below the bars.Hey presto up it comes.

I thought i was going to look silly but Curry was brill and didn't make me feel that at all.!!

What browzer are you using ? IE ?  I like picking up tips but in my browzer (Firefox) "lock toolbars " doesn't appear.

It's amazing how a simple check box can affect things.   ;D

Yes, I was referring to IE of course. I don't use firefox,  but it appears you can achieve the same result on firefox using customise, which doesn't actually help on IE.

Am I just confusing things now ... ?  :D I'll get me coat ...

You are very welcome Tim.It is weird the way things happen on a computer.Mine seems to have a mind of it's own.Something appears or disappears and you don't know what the heck you did.  ;D

I am having a lot of trouble with mine keeping on locking up and just won't do anything.I have to turn the power off and start again.Very annoying.perhaps i have overloaded it.I do have hundreds of favourite websites saved, and i do mean hundreds.................. ::)
