My pumpkins grow round, yellow and smooth and only form ridges and go orange as they ripen.

I agree I think it's some sort of pumpkin but it's actually quite old, another ordinary pumpkin of the same age is bright orange so I think it's ripe already.  I just wondered if anyone knew what type it is - it came from a pack of mixed winter squash from Real Seeds.

I'd say the one in the background is ripe, while the pale one wants a while yet.

have you grown big max or sumo pumpkins? one or the other is pale like this when immature and turn bright orange when ripe.

Have you tried e mailing real seeds and asking them? They are really helpful. Whatever, I'm sure you are right to leave it.

Could be Pegmumm - amazing selection on that site - thanks.  PS I wonder who buys squash seed by the 1/4 pound.
