Would be really interested to know now the cider making went...
Well Flossie,
I have now made about 50 litres of 'Turbo' cider, see the easy cider thread. And it has all been great... I am now experimenting with crab apples and desert apples using a kitchen juicer to extract the juice.
I have now racked and tasted my 20% crab apple mix turbo cider. It was very nice with more body, but a little too tart, so i blended 50/50 with straight turbo, and have got a really nice cider, with a little more body than standard turbo.
My conclusion is that i will brew a batch of crab apple cider and blend with turbo to taste...
Worth the effort.
Cheers,
AbingdonBoy.
Thanks - I may have a go next year
Cheers! ;D
Cider making doen't traditionaly start until October, get your skates on and you could be just in time for this year !!!
:) :) :) :) :)
It's all year round with turbo cider :)
To make something a little different you can add virtually anthing to the primary fermentation eg: peach & passion fruit, mango, cinnamon, vanilla, blackcurrant etc...
It works for the turbo cider recipe too if you add a small percentage of another fruit juice to the into the mix. You will have to experiment to find the right quantities of the extra ingredients to suit your taste.
made a batch of blackberry and pear/apple cider that was yuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmy
