If so, how big did yours get? :-[
Incidentally they have a special offer on right now, 10 asparagus roots for a fiver

I received mine today and they look to be excellent quality. I only have a small bed at the moment so it will double the amount of asparagus I cut in a couple of years, yummmmm
The asparagus do look good and a real bargain - I would love to grow it but just don't have the space, I planted some crowns 3 years ago but they get crowded out by other crops and I have not managed a single spear. :'(
Ooh Merry, thanks for the tip. :) Been wanting to grow asparagus for awhile.
I am growing the Zucca, but got the plants in late so they are still small and pale green, so it's too early to say how big they might get before the frost. Thank you for the asparagus tip and link Merry Tiller, a bargain :)
It may be a bargain - the asparagus that is - but its the white sort thats earthed up and IMHO has very little taste and not much eye appeal. :(
You don't have to earth it up......IMHO
Thank you for the tip - I have just ordered some!
Me too, thanks MT ;D
I'm gonna try planting on the surface like Ruth Stout says to :o :o ::)
'sparrow grass' ;D is dead easy from seed, you just need to be patient for about 2 or 3 years as they build up good crowns to plant out in their final position - seed also provide you with yearly additions to the crop if they become tired - not an easy crop though overall
Quoteyou just need to be patient for about 2 or 3 years
Patient, moi?................ I did get some asparagus seed as well, in the 25p offer at Wyevale, so give it 3 or 4 years and I'll be sick of the stuff :o (I don't think)
