Title: Saving Chillies (seed)
Post by: saddad on September 06, 2006, 21:06:10
I'm sure that I know the answer to this but am having a crisis of confidence.. do Chillies have perfect flowers like Toms? So can be grown together with little risk of cross pollination? A friend has asked for some to save seed.. would that work...?
???

Apparently they will hybridise, so you need to hand-pollinate and take precautions if you want seed that comes true reliably.

Seed I've saved has come true, even though I grow 5 or 6 varieties close together. I've got a really nice round chili this year saved from a fruit given to me by my nephew, I think he got it from a farmers market in St. Neots
