Title: Look at all these tomatos !!!! and a wee surprise ;)
Post by: Chris Graham on September 06, 2006, 20:05:27
My tumbler plant was getting over loaded with toms and some of the steams were broken so i thought it best to harvest what i could.

So many from just one plant!!!    These are the yellow ones.

Also a few more pics of my other tomatos, gonna have to ripen them inside.

Oh and a suprise image of a nice rainbow just taken a few mins ago.  It looked great, full spread right across the sky.  Didnt have a wide enough lens to capture the full thing.

lovely Chris.  Just think how many more you'll get next year.

;D

(I've got a window sill full of cherrie toms ripening too - i gave the plants a bit of tidy up to let them breath more easily and ended up with nearly as many as you).

Loved the rainbow too.  I'd get it blown up to poster size and frame it.  Brilliant photo!

PS  Toms look great too!

FAB pic of the sky 8) (toms not bad either ::))

I've not had much luck in ripening from the green in the open - they tend to stay green and go shrivelled. Always put them in a box somewhere dark (ie under a bed - got 4 trays ripening there at any one day)....pick them over every morning & then ripen the just-turned ones off in a fruit bowl. Works a dream for me.

Think I will pick all mine this weekend too. So many conflicting opinions on 'green tomatoes' so under the bed they shall go.

got rid of a colander full to the M-I-L tonight and still have masses left.

I'm quite pleased I had a glut of something.

;D

I'm so glad mine are still ripening outdoors :D :D. I'm picking about 5lbs every day or so and can just about cope with that amount. Any still on the vine at the end of the month will have to come indoors, but lord knows where I'll put them - the drawers under my bed are full of stuff ;D.

Love the photo Chris. I had hoped to see the partial moon eclipse this evening, but was so busy making jam I forgot ::).

I read somewhere put banana's with them and thats what i've been doing and they go ripe. Only thing mine aren't really as green though.
