After four years, I'd given up hope of these flowering, and now they've suddenly done it.
Yum! Worth the wait!!
They certainly make up for the awful strap-like leaves flopping all over everything!
nice. they're a lovely colour :)
is it a type of lily?
It's more closely related to the 'Amaryllis' (properly Hippeastrum) which is used as a houseplant. It's a South African genus; most of them aren't hardy. I also have some seeds of 'Jumbo Hybrids' from Deeds, which are just beginning to come up; it's going to be interesting to see what they turn into. I'm told they're monsters, with leaves up to six foot, and flower stems up to three feet high.
they look lovely............all things come to those who wait. (or persevere) well done.
