Title: Frogs and Newts
Post by: Belinda on April 05, 2004, 18:52:55
We have both frogs and newts in our pond and plenty of spawn. Does anyone know if there is any distinguishable difference between the two types of spawn?   ???

Hello Belinda. The frogs make a lot of noise and produce a lot of spawn, but the newts just quietly get on with it and produce single eggs wrapped round a plant leaf. They are very small and you will be most unlikely to find one.But in time you may be lucky to see the babies swimming about. They look like baby fish. They also seem to survive better than the tadpoles.
