It's raining. Nope, it's absolutely p*****g it down. All week I have been on nights and every time I have been awake it was either raining or the middle of the night, so I have not been to the plot. Went this morning on the way home, nabbed a swing bin bag of runner beans and every tomato I could see.
The weeds are RAMPANT! Will I ever get this plot sorted?!!
Ahem....feel better now, thanks!
Popped to mine just to have a pickings. Wow where did all those weeds come from? Blinking rain! On the one hand, my runners, courgettes and cucumbers have started cropping again with avengance, on the other hand, the bindweed is on the run! For me, the kids go back to school next week so I will spend every hour I am not working on the plot.
On the plus side, the weeds are slowing down now. When I am not cropping, which seems to be occupying all my time, the weeds are being harvested to provide next years mulch ...

Raining!........in Oldham......never!! I don't believe you. It never rained when I lived there.
None stop rain here in the NE too. Haven't been to the plot since Monday!!Arghh!! Hope the weeds haven't taken over. busy_lizzie
Bucketing down here in Somerset ! typical, we are of to Cornwall on Monday, ten :( :(days of camping in the rain!
I live just outside of Oldham, in Saddleworth and have been on the plot all morning harvesting in drenching rain and fierce winds, came back wetter than I've ever been before - sweet memories of July :) but the rest of september will be lovely as always
I don't 'see' weeds at this time of year as I know, in time, all will be dug up and over or covered in manure and ready to begin all over again ;D
You live near my mum,Calendula. She is in Greenfield, also enjoying the rain!!!!!!!!!!
i didn't get down at all yesterday due to a combination of computer problems and migraine, and i'm not feeling inspired today either! Feeling like a limp dishrag to be honest.
Oh Robert, sorry you are feeling pants. My darling and I both have headaches and I am supposed to be doing the housework now as we have family coming for the day tomoz and they have a 1 year old laddie, who is walking and into everything! Time to put away the breakables!!
Mother nature always wins in the end and the weeds will be. But so we will win when the winter comes and the weeds are going to die any way. Nuisance weather tho heard it was going to be bad today so quickly picked 2lb of raspberry's and made some jam. Harvested beetroot and pickled that. Had about 8lb of tomatoes so roasted those. So kind of feeling chuffed. Then made some dropscones to go with the said jam!!!!!!!!!!!! Have to say that is the first jam I have ever made off produce from lottie and apparently rasp is the easiest one to do and it is yummy.

mine got into a right state during the school holidays, so i know how you feel. for seven weeks you run in, water the green house, grab whatevers ready and run back out again. most of the weeds will just be on the surface, you'll soon catch up again. (says me.....still chasing my tail)
and wasn't the wind at the weekend something else... we had the top blown out of one of our old damson trees.. but at least they were easier to pick!
:o
Too scared to go down to ours, have planted my cabbage and brocoli, and don't want to find the eaten remains!
Spent the last 2 days on site, and finallly things are getting sorted, altho I must get a petrol mower to cut the flipping paths!!
going to visit mine for the first time in 2 week tomorrow afternoon. OH has been in charge of watering, so not sure what to expect .... he managed to get locked in on Tuesday evening ::) ::) and only realised when another lady came to ask if she could borrow his key to get out (only he doesn't have a key to the main gate). so they called her husband, who knew a friend of a friend, who lives near by ... OH squeezed under gate and when knocking on friend of friend's door ("Bob") only to find that "Bob" didn't live there after all, but fortunately they knew "Bob", who was roused from his tea to come to the rescue . ::) ::)
