Is it easy to grow or is it me? Seems hard to find in the supermarkets so i am going to grow my own.
Easy to grow, Buds, but runs to seed quickly, so I sucession sow, Dunno if it's a bit late now to sow outdoors, I've never tried a later sowing - it's getting cold here.
Our next door neighbour grows some blocks of it in high summer on his plot but have never seen him try it later on..
???
Hard to get a variety that will give lots of leaf.
Self seeds on my plot. I will collect some seed for you if you want.
It selfseeds on my plot, too. I've never had such a good crop as I have at the moment (East Sussex). Packed into a small plastic box it looks every bit as good as supermarket stuff and tastes delicious. This cool damp weather seems to suit it, and it is not running to flower as it did in the summer.
Yes please any seed very welcome for next year thank you folks.
I suppose I'm kinda lazy, one plant does me so I go to the local Asda in about march, buy a poy, cut half of it down to use in my cooking and put the rest on the windowsill, plant out in april in the poly and it's grown o.k. the last two years :)
Runs to seed in the greenhouse really quickly, slightly less quickly in the enclosed bed on the allotment. Will next try poorer soil and less sun to try and slow it down!
trouble is, I like it to go to seed in the poly, it attracts the hoverflies in to gobble up all the nasties, I do take some of the early leaves and use them
Don't know if it has been mentioned on here before, but the
seeds one gets from the suppliers is very expensive for
the few seeds you get. I go down to my local asian shop
and buy a 1kg bag for £1.99....goes a really long way and
you don't have to skimp when sowing.
