Post by: Mac49 on August 30, 2006, 23:51:08
My son has just built a P C with a Pentium D Dual Core processor, about 75% of the time
when he switches it on it doesn't detect the monitor, any ideas anyone, PLEASE, he's
driving me mad.

ok
could do with a little more info first please
can you get him to download everest from here
http://www.lavalys.com/products/download.php?pid=3&lang=en
then get his to do a full report and attatch it to your next post then we can help diagnose it further

if it is a tft monitor get him to set the refresh rate of the monitor to 60 hz

Obviously he can't see it on his computer and therefore can't do anything about it.
His 'puter has worked on my tft & his ctr when it feels like. I have downloaded that program
onto mine but have not looked at it yet.
Mac.

ok so his comp is messing about on your monitor as well as his own monitor yes?

firstlt check that  the graphics card is seated properly and that if it is a pcie card its power cable is plugged in

if it is a pcie card can you tell us what make it is and also what wattage and make of power supply
