Title: My day out
Post by: Curryandchips on August 30, 2006, 22:56:40
I have a week off work this week. It follows the same pattern as most weeks, garden, A4A, sleep, etc, without work to interrupt that sequence. Fancied a change today, so suggested to my wife that we visit her sister in law. We had a fabulous day, walked along a local canal with her dog, stopped for a pint and returned to a simple tea, but plenty of interesting chat. It is such a long time since I have had the company of interesting people (my wife excluded of course). And to top it off, I went down the allotment earlier, and filled a bucket with freshly picked potatoes, onions, carrots and courgettes to hand over. She was really thrilled.

I think today is one of those rare days that we always remember ... :)

All too rare nowadays to fit those sort of days in.

I envy you!  Even though I've retired to bring up grandkids, I've just had one of those weeks.  Two big family celebrations (Sharon will do the buffet for us!!!), finishing off the school uniform shopping, sewing in name tags, shortening trousers, shopping for buffets, cleaning the house, tidying front and back gardens and getting rid of piles of washing and ironing before visitors arrive, etc. means have not had time to get down the lotty or visit A4A for a week.  Sad case of withdrawal sypmtoms!!!  Suprised how much stuff I've missed when I got back on this morning.
Must chck emails soon bet I've got tons (mainly junk I expect).

Glad you had a good chill-out week.

My ex husband always decribed someone as "interesting"  when he infact fancied that person.

Aha Heldi so now he is "EX" just proves how the word interesting can be interpreted as. See dictionary!!
Glad to say that almost on a weekly basis I either speak on the telphone or read posts on A4A communicate by email to people that I find meet my need for interesting people. My life is simple and I am easy to please.

"a simple tea".....ahhh, memories of home-baked bread, fresh butter from the farmshop and damson jam when I was little. And lashings of tea from one of those Brown Betty teapots.....

(think this should be on the Nostalgia thread) ::)

Nothing quiet so reminiscent, Alishka, ham and tomato brown bread sandwiches, and coffee. Delightful though, and it rounded an active afternoon off wonderfully.

Real food, I took the yeti in pink knickers out for a nice meal. Half cooked veg, I think they called it al dente and a tiny square of meat (unknown origin) and the mark of Zorro squirted on the plate that was supposed to be gravy. I had to call in at the chippy on the way home.

If you were not happy, I presume you mentioned that to the establishment? :D

She does not know I can write, she is always calling me an illiterate, well something that sounds like that.
She enjoyed the meal and I did not want to spoil the evening. I just won't go back there.

Lorna, If you could see my wife quaff a pint or three, the last place I would take her is the pub :o She gets all lovey dovey afterwards, and I need my sleep. ;D

Sounds like the best decision in the circumstances. I have been told never to send food back to the kitchen with a complaint ...
