Title: Garlic from seed
Post by: Two Choices on August 30, 2006, 17:02:55
Managed to let one go to seed. The seed head dried naturally and having opened it there are a few healthy looking seeds. Has anyone grown garlic from seed. If so, how, when and where are they best planted?

Well it's nearly 24 hours Weedbuster and still no advice. I reckon it's down to you and me to experiment. I'm thinking maybe half now in a 40 cell tray in the greenhouse and see what happens over the winter and the other half in Feb next year. What do you reckon?

i'll shove some in a pot, and plant some cloves later on. one way or another it's got to work, good luck.

I believe garlic, like shallots, will not divide if grown from seed. I think you just get one large clove, which can be replanted the next year to grow into a proper bulb.
