Hi all, :D
I took these pics yesterday, all the sunflowers had self seeded from some heads that I had left for the birds last year, thats what i call free gardening. ;D
Adrian, (by the way how do i place text after the pics ???)
What a cheerful display. ;D
Once you have pasted the picture into the post, hit 'return' a couple of times then type away. :)

Fablious !!!!!
Plenty of seeds for the birds this winter.
I have grown sunflowers for first time, have got a few plants. This maybe a daft question (I am good at it) How do I use the heads for seeds for the birds, do I dry the heads or just hang the heads somewhere??
Lorna
Hi Lorna, :D
we do both ::) the flowers in the pics grew from seed heads that we left lying on the ground, for the birds to peck at. We also dry lots of heads off, simply by hanging them up on the fence or, if it`s wet, inside somewhere. Then when dried off a bit, scrape the seeds off the heads & put them on the bird table. You can also keep loads of seed this way for later on, or for sowing next year.
Adrian.
Thanks Adrian. I did throw one or two heads on the lawn near the feeding station. (maybe I will have sunflowers sprouting in the lawn next year!!)
Lorna
Almost certainly Lorna, we had them popping up in all the tubs and hanging baskets as well....
;D

Open day Sunday... still looking good.. my Plot is on the entrance road..
Saddad They look great, I must try and improve next year. I did have one that looked like the lovely big heads in your pic but not very tall. Mine have just about finished, maybe I tried to grow them too early.
