Title: Feeding Squashes and tomatoes
Post by: thomasb on August 26, 2006, 20:54:33
Hi All,
Are you still feeding your squashes/pumpkins and outdoor tomatoes?
When do you stop feeding them?

Thanks,
Thomas

I don't really feed either much. Start them off with a good thick layer of grass mulch, in soil that gets mulched annually, and leave them to their own devices. The only thing they do get is a little wood ash, and that odd feed of liquid manure (which is mostly pee) early on.

Mine are in containers so I'm still feeding my 6 tomato plants once every week or so.

Mine are mostly in grow bags and I've stopped feeding. I'm not at all sure that I should have but they don't really have a lot more growing to do and I think I read that not feeding towards the end will improve flavour... Must go'n feed the cucumbers though.
