Hi there been out today and brought some seeds...
Lettuce ( tom thumb)
Leaf Salad ( spicy mix)
Sprouting Seed ( broccoli green)
Radish ( jolly)
Kohl Rabi ( logo)
Turnip ( arcoat)
Ok now i have a few thousand questions ;D
1) Can all the above be planted out after i have sowed the seeds and just grow normally (if that makes sense).?
2) Does the tom thumb lettuce need to be grown in a cloche or green house ?
3) The only thing i have ever eaten are the raddish. What does the other stuff taste like and how would i accomodate them into my dishes?
4) Any other advice on the above would be gratley appreciated
You can sow the leaf mix in a big tub or border, it takes about 3-4 weeks and can then be cut and used in salads... did some at start of Aug I'm eating now and will do another tomorrow and some in a greenhouse border when I clear the Toms out. Several lettuce will grow outside now but not sure about Tom Thumb, Kohl Rabi and Turnip I would leave until Spring but might make some small roots to eat before the frosts...
:-\
thanks...
gonna try them anyway ,the way our weather is we'll probably be having heat waves in october . I just wanna grow something and eat it ;D
I have started to grow radishes this year. (not sure of the type) We directly planted the seeds on the 3rd. Just checked them today and looks like they'll be ready in 5-7 days.
I haven't eaten much of them myself but after a search on foodnetwork.com I found recipes for:
Roasted Radishes with Soy and Sesame Seeds
Steamed Radishes with Lemon Dill Butter
and
Mango, Radish, and Lime Salsa
which I can't wait to try.
Good luck with the radishes and salads!
thanks....
that what i want to do grow something then go find some mad dish that incorperates it. ;D
